Instructions for use of Helixor A 100 mg

Helixor® A/-M/-P is an injection solution made from an extract of fresh mistletoe.Helixor® A is obtained from pine mistletoe, Helixor® M from apple tree mistletoe and Helixor® P from pine mistletoe.The amount of fresh plant material used for one ampoule is expressed in milligrams.Water for injections and sodium chloride serve as extractants.

Helixor® is used in adults in accordance with anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature.It is used to treat malignant and benign tumor diseases, including accompanying disorders of the blood-forming organs.It can also be used to prevent relapses after tumor operations and in defined precancerous lesions.

No prescription is required for this product.

Application and dosage

Helixor® should always be used exactly as your doctor has told you.The injection solution is injected subcutaneously, i.e. under the skin, if possible close to the tumor or metastases.If this is not possible, other intact skin areas such as the abdominal skin, upper arm or thighs can also be used.It is important not to inject into inflamed skin areas and to avoid radiation fields.

The usual dosage is 2 to 3 injections per week.Therapy usually begins with a low dose, which is gradually increased until the optimal individual dose is found.This dose is then maintained in the maintenance phase.The exact dosage and treatment regimen depend on the stage of the disease and the patient's response.

Side effects and precautions

Possible side effects include local inflammatory reactions at the injection site, fever, fatigue and flu-like symptoms.These reactions are usually harmless and indicate an effective dosage.In case of excessive reactions, the dose should be reduced.In rare cases, allergic reactions may occur that require immediate medical attention.

Helixor® must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to mistletoe preparations, in acute inflammatory or high fever diseases, in chronic granulomatous diseases and autoimmune diseases with severe symptoms, as well as in hyperthyroidism with rapid heartbeat.In the case of primary brain and spinal cord tumors or intracranial metastases with a risk of increased intracranial pressure, Helixor® should only be administered according to strict indications and under close clinical control.

Storage

Helixor® should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date.The ampoules should be stored in the original packaging and protected from light.Helixor® 0.01 mg and 0.1 mg should be stored in a refrigerator, while the other concentrations should not be stored above 30 °C.

Composition

One ampoule of Helixor® contains an aqueous extract of fresh mistletoe in various concentrations, corresponding to the specified amount of fresh plant.As other ingredients, Helixor® contains sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide and water for injections.
