No prescription is required for this product.Hylan is an eye drop that is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye syndrome.The active ingredient in Hylan is sodium hyaluronate, which is present at a concentration of 0.015%.Additionally, the product contains Carbomer 981, glycerol and water for injections.

Application

Hylan should always be used exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet.Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, drip one drop into the conjunctival sac four times a day.The maximum dosage is one drop eight times a day.Hylan should not be used if the eye is at increased risk of infection, for example after eye surgery or in patients susceptible to infection.It should also not be used on patients under 18 years of age.

Take a strip of one-dose containers from a bag and separate one dose.To open the one-dose container, twist off the top closure part of the container.Bend your head back slightly, look up and pull your lower eyelid slightly away from your eye.By lightly pressing the lower part of the container, drip a drop into the lower conjunctival sac.Avoid touching the drip opening with your eye.After instillation, slowly close your eyes.

Hylan is suitable for long-term therapy.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Hylan is too strong or too weak.An overdose has not yet been observed.If you forget to use Hylan, do not use a double dose.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Hylan can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Occasionally, a temporary burning sensation may occur immediately after application.If you notice any side effects that are not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.You must not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the label and carton.Hylan should not be stored above 25ºC.The single-dose containers should be stored in a sealed pouch and in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.Leftover single-dose containers should be destroyed four weeks after each sachet has been opened.Hylan should be used at room temperature for a maximum of 12 hours after opening the single-dose containers and should then be destroyed.
