Information for use of the article HYLAN 0.65ML: Important information (mandatory information): Hylan. Active substance: sodium hyaluronate. This medicine is available without prescription. However, to achieve the best possible treatment success, Hylan must be used as prescribed. Keep this leaflet for future reference. If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. This leaflet contains: 1. WAS IST HYLAN UND WOFÜR WIRD ES USED? Hylan is an ophthalmic medicine for dry eye. Indications: This medicine is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye syndrome. 2. NOTE WAS MÜSSEN SIE VOR DER ANWENDUNG VON HYLAN ? Hylan must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of Hylan. When using Hylan with other medicines: Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. In case of additional other medicinal treatment to the eye, an application interval of at least 5 minutes should be observed. Always administer Hylan last. Remove contact lenses before dripping and do not reinsert them for at least 30 minutes. Studies on the influence of Hylan on intraocular pressure or on the influence of the measurement results are not available. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Reproduction studies have shown no risks, but no controlled studies are available in pregnant women. Hylan has a purely physical effect on the eye and can therefore be used during pregnancy and lactation. Driving and operating machinery: Blurred vision may occur for a short time after application until the eye drops are evenly distributed. 3. HOW TO USE WIE IST HYLAN ? Always use Hylan exactly as directed in this leaflet. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not completely sure. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, drop 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 4 times daily. Maximum dosage up to 1 drop 8 times daily. Hylan should not be used if there is an increased risk of infection of the inner and outer eye (e.g. after eye surgery or in patients susceptible to infection). Route of administration: Remove a strip of one-dose containers from a sachet and separate one dose. Drop Hylan into the conjunctival sac of the eye. To open the one-dose container, twist off the top closure part of the container. Bend your head back slightly, look up and pull the lower lid slightly away from the eye. By pressing lightly on the lower part of the container, drop a drop into the lower conjunctival sac. Avoid any contact of the dropper opening with the eye. After dropping, slowly close your eyes. Hylan should not be used in patients under 18 years of age. Duration of use: Hylan is suitable for long-term therapy. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think that the effect of Hylan is too strong or too weak. If you have used a larger amount of Hylan than you should: An overdose has not been observed so far. If you forget to use Hylan: Do not apply a double dose if you have forgotten the previous application. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4. WELCHE NEBENWIRKUNGEN SIND POSSIBLE? Like all medicines, Hylan can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Possible side effects: Occasionally, you may experience a temporary burning sensation immediately after application. If you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. 5. HOW TO STORE WIE IST HYLAN ? Keep the medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton after use by. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Storage conditions: Do not store above 25ºC. Hylan single-dose containers should be stored in a sealed pouch and in the outer carton to protect the contents from light. Discard any remaining single-dose containers 4 weeks after opening the individual sachets. Note on shelf life after opening or preparation: Hylan should be used at room temperature for no more than 12 hours after opening the single-dose containers, after which it should be destroyed. 6 WEITERE INFORMATIONEN What Hylan contains: The active ingredient is: Sodium hyaluronate 1 single-dose container of 0.65 ml solution contains 0.15 mg sodium hyaluronate per 1 ml solution The other ingredients are: Carbomer 981, glycerol, water for injections.
