Instructions for use of the article Betaisodona wound gauze 10 x 10 cm Important information (obligatory data): Betaisodona wound gauze 3 mg/cm2, ointment gauze. Active substance: povidone-iodine. Indications: Betaisodona wound gauze is a germicidal agent (antiseptic) for use on skin and wounds. Betaisodona wound gauze is used as a germicidal dressing for the prevention of skin infections when there is a high probability of infection, for the treatment of skin infections, for the infection-inhibiting treatment of cuts and abrasions and other injuries, for the infection-inhibiting treatment of skin burns, bedsores, pressure ulcers and infected lower leg ulcers (decubitus, ulcus cruris). Warning: Keep the medicinal product out of the reach of children. What is Betaisodona wound gauze and what is it used for? Betaisodona is a germicidal agent (antiseptic) for use on skin and wounds. Betaisodona wound gauze is used as a germicidal dressing for the prevention of skin infections when there is a high probability of infection, for the treatment of skin infections, for the infection-inhibiting treatment of cuts and abrasions and other injuries, for the infection-inhibiting treatment of burns to the skin, bedsores, pressure ulcers and infected lower leg ulcers (decubitus ulcer, leg ulcer). How should Betaisodona wound gauze be used? Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is (unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor): Betaisodona wound gauze is applied at every dressing change. In the initial phase or for heavily infected wounds, the wound gauze can also be changed several times a day. Tear open the bag and place the Betaisodona wound gauze on the diseased or injured skin area. You can put a bandage over the wound gauze. The brown colouring of the ointment contained in Betaisodona wound gauze is a property of the preparation and indicates its effectiveness. Increasing discolouration indicates a decrease in the effectiveness of the preparation. If there is complete discolouration, there is no longer any efficacy. If you notice extensive discolouration of the ointment, you should apply a new gauze. The application should be continued as long as there are still signs of inflammation. If your symptoms have not improved after regular application for 2 to 5 days, or if symptoms recur after completion of treatment, please consult your doctor. Note: The ointment contained in Betaisodona wound gauze is fat-free and can be washed out. Generally, it can be removed from textiles and other materials with warm water and soap. In stubborn cases, ammonia (ammonia solution) or fixing salt (sodium thiosulphate) can help. Both are available in pharmacies or drugstores. If you have used more Betaisodona wound gauze than you should: Please contact your doctor, especially if you notice any of the symptoms listed in section 4. If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. How should Betaisodona wound gauze be stored? Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. Do not store above 25°C. Do not use this medicine if you notice extensive discolouration of the preparation. What Betaisodona wound gauze contains: The active substance is: povidone-iodine. 1 piece of 10 x 10 cm ointment gauze, corresponding to 4.3 g, contains 300 mg povidone-iodine with a content of 10 % available iodine. The average molecular weight of povidone is about 40,000. The other ingredients are: Ointment: macrogols 400, 4000, 6000, purified water. Gauze: Cotton.
