The active ingredient is diphenhydramine hydrochloride.One tablet contains 50 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, povidone K25 and highly dispersed silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to diphenhydramine hydrochloride, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.It is also not permitted to be taken in the case of acute asthma, glaucoma, certain tumors of the adrenal medulla, enlargement of the prostate gland with residual urine formation, epilepsy, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat, certain heart diseases or with the simultaneous use of drugs that prolong the QT-interval in the EKG or lead to hypokalemia.

In addition, the medicine must not be taken while taking alcohol or so-called MAO-inhibitors or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.The medicine is not suitable for the treatment of children and adolescents up to 14 years of age.A lower-dose dosage form is available for adolescents.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose for adults is one tablet (equivalent to 50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride).This dose should not be exceeded.

Patients with impaired liver or kidney function should receive lower doses.It is also recommended that the dose be adjusted if necessary in elderly or debilitated patients who may be particularly sensitive.

If you take more than you should, tell a doctor immediately.Diphenhydramine overdoses can be dangerous, especially for children and young children.They can manifest themselves through disorders of the central nervous system and the cardiovascular system.

Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

Intake

The tablets are taken whole in the evening with a little liquid (water) 30 minutes before going to bed.Adequate sleep duration of 7 to 8 hours should then be ensured.

Take special care when taking the medicine if you suffer from impaired liver function, chronic lung disease or asthma.After repeated use of sleeping pills over a long period of time, a loss of effectiveness may occur.Taking the drug can also lead to the development of physical and psychological dependence.The risk of dependence increases with the dose and duration of treatment.

When stopping treatment with the medicine, sleep disorders may temporarily recur due to sudden discontinuation.It is therefore recommended that treatment be stopped if necessary by gradually reducing the dose.

Do not drive vehicles or operate dangerous machines after taking the medicine.Even the following day, residual tiredness and impaired ability to react can still have a detrimental effect on the ability to drive or work with machines, especially after insufficient sleep.

Pregnancy
