Cadesorb ointment dressing is a protease-modulating ointment dressing that was specifically developed for the treatment of chronic wounds.The ointment is applied topically and turns into a moist gel when wound exudate is absorbed.In combination with a suitable secondary dressing, such as OPSITE FLEXIGRID, Cadesorb ointment dressing can create a moist wound environment.

The product consists of an absorbent starch polymer, polyethylene glycol and poloxamer.Cadesorb ointment dressing is able to shift the pH value in the wound to the acidic range.Acidic pH causes slowed bacterial growth and reduces the proteolytic activity of matrix metalloproteases (MMPs), which are overrepresented in many poorly healing wounds and delay healing.By regulating protease activity in the wound bed and absorbing wound secretions and cell debris into the gel matrix, Cadesorb ointment dressing helps to improve the conditions in the wound environment and promote the healing of chronic wounds.
