The active ingredient polidocanol has a local anesthetic effect on the nerve fibers that mediate itching.The Optiderm care lotion contains high-quality polidocanol, which works particularly quickly and reduces or even completely eliminates itching shortly after application.

Urea, also known as urea, is a substance found in the skin that increases the skin's ability to retain water.Optiderm Lotion helps to compensate for a lack of urea that can occur with psoriasis, neurodermatitis or diabetes.

In addition to urea, the glycerin contained in the lotion also keeps the skin supple and strengthens its natural barrier function.With a lipid content of 25%, the oil-in-water formulation supplies the skin with important fats.

Optiderm is free of fragrances and dyes and is therefore well tolerated.The lotion can be used on children aged 6 and over.Its use is not recommended for infants and small children due to their still very sensitive skin.

How to use Optiderm itch-relieving care lotion

With the thin lotion you can quickly combat itching, especially on larger areas of skin, and pamper irritated skin with nourishing ingredients.Apply the lotion thinly to affected areas twice a day.Since the lotion is quickly and completely absorbed into the skin, you can then dress as usual.

The duration of use depends on the condition of your skin.The symptoms usually subside within three weeks.If itching and dry skin persist, you can use the medicine for a longer period of time, but only in consultation with your doctor or pharmacist.

Optiderm Lotion is also suitable for use on the face or scalp.If you have allergies to the components of the lotion, you must not use it.You should also avoid treatment with Optiderm itch-relieving lotion if you have acutely inflamed, weeping or infected skin.

Mode of action

Optiderm contains a unique active ingredient combination of urea and polidocanol.Urea is one of the best moisturizing factors and supports the skin's ability to bind water.It is often used as basic therapy for dry skin and is well tolerated as an endogenous substance.In people with neurodermatitis, psoriasis or diabetes, the urea content in the skin is significantly reduced.Optiderm can compensate for this deficiency.

Polidocanol has a local anesthetic effect on nerve fibers that mediate itching and thus quickly reduces the torturous itching.The symptoms often disappear completely within a week.The skin barrier stabilizes and can resume its natural protective function.

100 g emulsion of Optiderm® Lotion contains: 5.0 g urea and 3.0 g macrogol lauryl ether 6.5 (polidocanol).Other ingredients are purified water, octyldodecanol, poly(methyl, phenylsiloxane), stearic acid 25, dimeticone, glycerol, thick paraffin, hexadecyl palmitate, polysorbate 40, carbomer 981, benzyl alcohol and trometamol.

Contraindications

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Optiderm. Particular caution is required when using the medicine near eyes and mucous membranes.Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.When applied to damaged or inflamed skin, skin irritation such as redness or burning may occur.Please consult your doctor before using Optiderm on children.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, Optiderm Lotion is applied evenly and thinly to the affected skin areas twice a day.Make sure that the lotion does not come into contact with eyes and mucous membranes and do not apply the product to acutely inflamed, weeping or infected skin.The duration of application depends on the clinical picture and is an average of three weeks.If your skin is persistently dry, Optiderm Lotion can be used over a longer period of time.

Patient information

Optiderm® cream, Optiderm® lotion and Optiderm® fat cream are suitable for regulating the moisture of the stratum corneum, greasing and relieving itching, as well as for supporting treatment of skin diseases with dry and/or itchy skin, such as atopic eczema (neurodermatitis) and exsiccation eczema (drying damage caused by detergents, etc.).

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.There are no known risks when using the product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.If you are breastfeeding, please do not apply the lotion to the breast area to prevent the product from getting into the infant's mouth or lips.
