Scope of application

Mepore is a sterile, self-adhesive and absorbent dressing that can also be used by laypeople under the supervision of a healthcare professional.The dressing consists of an absorbent wound dressing with an integrated, non-adhesive wound contact layer.The self-adhesive edge features a skin-friendly, water-based acrylic adhesive that is free of organic solvents.The adhesive area is covered with two overlapping protective films to enable aseptic application.An outer breathable fleece provides physical protection for the wound.

Application

Clean the wound according to clinical practice.Dry the skin surrounding the wound carefully.Using moisturizers, gels, or ointments on the skin surrounding the wound may impair adhesion and should be avoided.

Remove the protective films and apply the adhesive side to the skin without stretching the bandage.Make sure the absorbent pad covers the wound.Gently press the edge to ensure proper adhesion to the skin.

To remove the bandage, grasp the edge and slowly pull it away from the skin in the direction of hair growth.Care should be taken not to apply Mepore under tension to avoid shear forces that can cause skin damage.When attaching over joints, care must be taken not to compromise the flexibility of the joint.Excessive swelling may occur after some surgical procedures.In this case, it may be better to use a more flexible bandage to minimize skin tension.Mepore should be changed before it is fully saturated, if there is evidence of leakage, or according to clinical practice.Disposal must be carried out in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Precautions

Do not use Mepore in patients with a known hypersensitivity to acrylic adhesive or other materials/components of the product.Do not use on sensitive skin.If used on sensitive skin, skin irritation may occur.Do not stretch the bandage when applying it.

If you notice signs of infection, such as fever or redness, warmth, or swelling of the wound or surrounding skin, contact a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.Do not reuse.If reused, product performance may deteriorate and cross-contamination may occur.Sterile.Do not use if the inner packaging (sterile barrier) is damaged or opened.Do not resterilize product.
