Directions for use of the article Nephrotrans enteric-coated capsules: Nephrotrans 500 mg enteric-coated soft capsules contain the active substance sodium hydrogen carbonate. The medicinal product is used for the treatment of metabolic hyperacidity of the blood (metabolic acidosis) and for maintenance treatment against recurrence of metabolic hyperacidity of the blood in chronic renal failure. It is important to read the package leaflet and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any side effects or questions. The correct dosage for adults is 2 to 4 capsules, three times a day (maximum 10 capsules per day). The capsules should be taken unchewed with liquid. The medicine is not usually used in children under 14 years of age. Side effects may include flatulence, abdominal pain, formation of kidney stones, allergic reactions and tetany-like muscle cramps.
