Area of application

This preparation is a remedy for yeast infections in the mouth and gastrointestinal area.It is used for infections caused by nystatin-sensitive yeasts such as Candida albicans.Areas of application include oral thrush and infections in the gastrointestinal area.

The suspension contains 100,000 international units (IU) of nystatin per milliliter.Other ingredients include ethanol 96% (V/V) as an excipient, hyetellose, phospholipids from soybeans, 0.5 g sucrose, purified water, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is:

For oral thrush and infections in the gastrointestinal area:

Newborns (0 to 4 weeks) and small children (1 month to 2 years): 0.5 - 1 ml suspension 4 to 6 times daily.

Children (from 2 years) and adults: 1 - 2 ml suspension 4 to 6 times daily.

For oral thrush, treatment should be continued for 2 to 3 days after the visible symptoms disappear.For yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract, treatment should generally be carried out 2 weeks or a few days after complete healing.If symptoms persist, you must see a doctor.

If you take more than you should, you may experience gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.A specific antidote is not known.In cases of acute overdose, you should stop taking the medicine immediately and consult your doctor.

If you forget to use it, do not take a double dose.Successful therapy is no longer guaranteed if treatment is stopped prematurely.

Intake

The suspension is used for oral and oral use.Shake well before each use.Use the pipette to remove the suspension to the desired mark and add it drop by drop into your mouth.The pipette should not come into contact with the affected areas and should be screwed onto the bottle after use.

For oral thrush, treatment is carried out after meals.Thrush plaques should be wiped off with a cotton swab before the suspension is applied.The suspension should be kept in the mouth for as long as possible before swallowing.

In the case of gastrointestinal infections, the suspension is taken before meals.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the suspension.Regular oral hygiene must be maintained during treatment.Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.

This preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

At therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed after oral administration, via intact skin or mucous membranes.Nystatin does not cross the placenta and is not expected to pass into breast milk.

The suspension can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.There are no data available on the influence on reproductive ability.
