Active ingredients and ingredients

This preparation contains nystatin as an active ingredient in a concentration of 100,000 IU. The excipients include ethanol 96% (V/V), hyetellose, phospholipids from soybeans, sucrose (0.5 g), purified water, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.

Areas of application

The preparation is used to treat yeast infections in the mouth and gastrointestinal area.It is effective against infections caused by nystatin-sensitive yeasts such as Candida albicans.These include oral thrush and infections in the gastrointestinal tract.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The recommended dose for newborns (0 to 4 weeks) and young children (1 month to 2 years) is 0.5 to 1 ml of suspension 4 to 6 times daily.For children aged 2 years and over and adults, the dose is 1 to 2 ml of suspension 4 to 6 times daily.

For oral thrush, treatment should be continued for 2 to 3 days after the visible symptoms disappear.For yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract, treatment should generally be carried out 2 weeks or a few days after complete healing.If symptoms persist, you should consult a doctor.

Overdose can lead to gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.A specific antidote is not known.If an acute overdose occurs, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor.

Do not take a double dose if you forget to use it.Successful therapy is no longer guaranteed if treatment is stopped prematurely.

Intake

The suspension is used for oral and oral use.The bottle should be shaken well before each use.Take the desired amount using the pipette and place it drop by drop into your mouth.The pipette should not come into contact with the affected areas and should be screwed back onto the bottle after use.

For oral thrush, treatment should be carried out after meals.Thrush plaques should be wiped off with a cotton swab before the suspension is applied.The suspension should be kept in the mouth for as long as possible before swallowing.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the suspension.Maintain regular oral hygiene during treatment.Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.

This preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

At therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed after oral administration, via intact skin or mucous membranes.It does not cross the placental barrier and is not expected to pass into breast milk.

The suspension can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.There are no data available on the influence on reproductive ability.
