Instructions for use for Nystaderm film-coated tablets, 50 pcs
Nystaderm® film-coated tablets
Nystaderm® film-coated tablets are a medicine used to treat yeast infections in the digestive tract. They are used in particular after therapy with antibiotics, corticoids or cytostatics. The active ingredient nystatin damages the cell membrane of fungi, thereby inhibiting or killing their growth. No prescription is required for this product.
Area of application
Nystaderm® film-coated tablets are used for yeast infections in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract. These infections can occur particularly after or during therapy with cytostatics, corticosteroids or antibiotics.Nystatin is practically not absorbed when used orally and is therefore used exclusively to cleanse the gastrointestinal tract in yeast infections such as Candida albicans and related yeast species.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
Nystaderm® film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient nystatin. One film-coated tablet contains 500,000 IU nystatin. The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, cellulose powder, carboxymethyl starch sodium, povidone K25, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, basic butyl methacrylate copolymer, sodium dodecyl sulfate, carmellose sodium, stearic acid, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, Ponceau 4R, aluminum salt (E124) and azorubine, aluminum salt(E122).
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin, a related active ingredient such as amphotericin B or natamycin, or any of the other ingredients. It is also not suitable for the treatment of systemic fungal infections.
Dosage
The recommended dosage is one film-coated tablet three times daily.Under certain circumstances the dose can be increased. The duration of treatment is usually two weeks or as long as treatment with medications that promote yeast growth continues. It is taken after meals with a little liquid. It is important to continue treatment for at least two days after symptoms subside to avoid reinfection.
Intake
Take the film-coated tablets whole after meals with a little liquid.
Patient information
Use in children under six years of age is not recommended.More suitable dosage forms such as suspensions containing nystatin are available for this age group. The film-coated tablets have no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. In therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed via the intact skin or mucous membranes after oral administration and does not cross the placental barrier. It is also not expected to pass into breast milk. The film-coated tablets can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Notes
If the affected areas cause unpleasant irritation or something changes there, stop taking the medication and consult your doctor immediately. When treating fungal infections, all fungal foci on the skin and mucous membranes must be eliminated in order to avoid relapses.
