Area of application

Nystatin STADA® 500,000 IU coated tablets are a remedy for intestinal yeast diseases.It is used for the topical intestinal treatment of proven nystatin-sensitive yeast infections, especially if these occur as a result of therapy with antibiotics, cytostatics or corticosteroids.Symptoms such as bloating, intestinal cramps, recurrent diarrhea and itching can indicate such an infection.The active ingredient nystatin has proven itself in the treatment of intestinal fungi, such as Candida albicans.

Mode of action

The active ingredient nystatin damages the outer covering, also called the cell membrane, of fungi.As a result, this shell loses some of its functions, cell components escape and the cell can dissolve.Depending on the active ingredient concentration, the growth and reproduction of the fungi is inhibited or killed directly.One coated tablet contains 500,000 IU (International Units) of nystatin.

The active ingredient is nystatin.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, corn starch, magnesium stearate, shellac, talc, sucrose, calcium carbonate, glucose syrup, titanium dioxide, iron (III) oxide, spray-dried Arabic gum, white clay, macrogol 6000, glycerol 85%, Capol 600 (bleached wax,carnauba wax, shellac) and vanillin.

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet 3 times a day.In severe cases, 2 tablets can be taken 3 times a day.The tablets should be taken after eating with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water.Treatment should be continued for approximately 2 weeks, even for a few days after complete healing.

Intake

Take the tablets after eating with enough liquid, such as a glass of water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to nystatin, a related active ingredient such as amphotericin B or natamycin or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.In addition, treatment with the medicine is not recommended in newborns, infants and young children as difficulty swallowing may occur.

Patient information

Take special care when taking this medicine if you were born underweight or immature.The medicine is not suitable for full-term newborns, infants and young children due to possible difficulty swallowing.Effects on the ability to drive and use machines have not yet been reported.

The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
