Area of application

The medicine contains the active ingredient nystatin, which is used to treat fungal infections of the mucous membranes.It is used for nystatin-sensitive infections of the oral cavity, pharynx and esophagus.It is also used for the topical intestinal treatment of proven nystatin-sensitive yeast infections and for colonization prophylaxis of the gastrointestinal tract, especially in children and infants.If you do not feel better or feel worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.

1 ml of the suspension contains 100,000 IU nystatin as the active ingredient.The excipients include glycerol 85%, sucrose, colloidal silicon dioxide, purified water, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, raspberry flavor, cinnamaldehyde, propylene glycol, geraniol, citronellol, linalool and ethanol.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to nystatin, related active ingredients such as amphotericin B or natamycin, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for children aged 2 years and over and adults, depending on the severity of the disease, is 0.5 - 1.5 ml of suspension drip into the mouth 4 times a day after meals.Newborns and small children receive 0.5 - 1 ml suspension 4 times daily.For colonization prophylaxis of the gastrointestinal tract, 1.5 ml 3 to 4 times daily in newborns and small children and 5 ml at least 4 times daily in adults with risk factors are recommended.

In the case of oral thrush, the medicine should be dripped into the mouth after meals and spread in the mouth for at least 1 minute in order to achieve good wetting of the entire oral cavity.Treatment should be continued for 2 - 3 days after the visible signs of the disease have disappeared.For yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract, treatment should generally be carried out for 2 weeks.

If you take more than you should, no side effects are expected due to the negligible absorption of nystatin from the gastrointestinal tract.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor or pharmacist, as you could endanger the success of the treatment.

Intake

For use in the oral cavity and to be taken orally.Please shake the bottle vigorously before use.Draw up the suspension with the pipette up to the desired marking line or remove it with the dosing pump.Pour the suspension into the oral cavity and leave it in the mouth for a few minutes, then swallow.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.The preparation is not suitable for the treatment of systemic fungal infections.Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.If your baby is less than 4 weeks old, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving him this medicine.

The preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.In therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed through the mucous membranes after oral administration and does not cross the placental barrier.It is also not expected to pass into breast milk.The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after weighing the benefits and risks.

Contains parabens E 216/E 218 and sucrose (sugar).Contains a flavor with cinnamaldehyde, propylene glycol, geraniol, citronellol, linalool and ethanol.Contains 0.0001 mg alcohol (ethanol) per g corresponding to 0.0002 mg/ml (w/v). Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Other

Nystatin oral preparations are not suitable for treating fungal infections of the entire body.If healing is not successful, the treatment must be checked by a doctor.When treating fungal infections, all fungal foci on the skin and mucous membranes must be treated to avoid relapses.
