Instructions for use for RIVANOL Ointment, 25 g

Rivanol ointment contains the active ingredient ethacridine lactate monohydrate and is used to reduce germs on the skin. It has a broad antibacterial effect against wound infections. The ointment should be applied thinly to the diseased skin area and can be used three times a day. The duration of use is not limited, but should not be longer than 7 days without medical advice. The ointment must not be used in cases of known allergies to ethacridine lactate or other acridine derivatives. Application to the eye area is also not permitted. Possible side effects are allergic skin reactions, swelling of the face, itchy hives-like rash, headache and mild cramps. In case of pregnancy and lactation, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before using the ointment. The ointment is available in packs of 25 g and 50 g. Always consult a doctor or pharmacist before using other medicines. The ointment should be kept out of the reach of children.
