Rivanol® ointment is suitable for spot application and is ideal for small wounds and skin inflammations - particularly practical under plasters or bandages.The ointment should be applied thinly to the affected area 3 times a day.An additional advantage is the zinc oxide it contains, which supports wound healing.

Rivanol® ointment contains the active ingredient ethacridine lactate monohydrate.One gram of ointment contains 2 milligrams of the active ingredient.Additionally, the ointment contains zinc oxide, wheat starch, isopropyl myristate, white petroleum jelly, alpha-(hexadecyl,octadecyl)-omega-hydroxypoly(oxyethylene)-3.5 and purified water.
Area of application
Rivanol® ointment contains the active ingredient ethacridine lactate, which is one of the acridine derivatives and has a broad antibacterial effect against wound infections.When applied locally, it inhibits the buildup of the bacterial wall, which leads to the rapid death of many pathogens.It is used to reduce germs on the skin and is particularly suitable for treating small wounds.The ointment can be ideally used under bandages or plasters.
Dosage
The ointment should be applied in a thin layer to the affected skin area 3 times a day.A thin application accelerates the drying process, avoids accumulation of secretions and often makes it possible to avoid the need for bandages.
Contraindications
If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.The product must not be used in the eye area.
Patient information
Areas of skin to which the preparation has been applied should not be exposed to sunlight for a long period of time.No prescription is required for this product.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The medicine should not be used during pregnancy as there are no studies on teratogenic effects.The medicine should also not be used during breastfeeding, as it is not known exactly whether the medicine passes into breast milk.
Notes
Rivanol® ointment turns skin, laundry and other items yellow.Contact of the ointment with materials that can become colored should be avoided.Cloths that have come into contact with Rivanol® ointment should not be washed in the washing machine with other textiles.Fresh stains can be easily removed by simply washing, but they are difficult to remove after drying and oxidation.
Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Make sure to keep all Rivanol® products out of the reach of children and do not use the medicine after the stated expiry date.
