Nystaderm®-S 100,000 IU/ml suspension with dosing pump
Nystaderm®-S Suspension is an effective remedy against oral thrush and other fungal infections.It is suitable for use in the oral cavity and for oral use.The product is particularly suitable for children and infants and has a pleasant raspberry taste.
Areas of application
Nystaderm®-S is used to treat fungal infections of the oral cavity, pharynx and esophagus.It is also suitable for the topical treatment of yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract and for colonization prophylaxis of the gastrointestinal tract, especially in children and infants.No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredient in Nystaderm®-S is nystatin.Each milliliter of the suspension contains 100,000 IU of nystatin.The other ingredients include methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (parabens: E 216, E 218), glycerol 85%, colloidal silicon dioxide, sucrose, raspberry flavor (contains, among other things, cinnamaldehyde, propylene glycol, geraniol, citronellol, linalool and ethanol) and purified water.
Contraindications
Nystaderm®-S must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin, related active ingredients such as amphotericin B or natamycin, or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.
Dosage
The recommended dose for children from two years of age and adults, depending on the severity of the disease, is 0.5 to 1.5 milliliters of suspension dripped into the mouth four times a day after meals.Newborns and small children receive 0.5 to 1 milliliter of suspension four times daily.For colonization prophylaxis of the gastrointestinal tract, newborns and small children are treated with 150,000 IU three to four times daily, while adults with risk factors receive 500,000 IU at least four times daily.
For oral thrush, the medicine should be dripped into the mouth after meals and spread in the mouth for at least a minute to ensure good wetting of the entire oral cavity.For oral thrush, treatment should be continued for two to three days after the visible signs of the disease have disappeared.For yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract, treatment should usually be carried out for two weeks.
For use in the oral cavity and to be taken orally.Please shake the bottle vigorously before use.Draw up the suspension with the pipette up to the desired marking line (0.5 or 1 ml) or remove it with the dosing pump (1 stroke corresponds to 0.5 ml, 2 strokes correspond to 1 ml).Pour the suspension into the oral cavity and leave it in the mouth for a few minutes, then swallow.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.The preparation is not suitable for the treatment of systemic fungal infections.Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.If your baby is less than four weeks old, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving him this medicine, especially if your baby is receiving other medicines at the same time.
The preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.At therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed through the mucous membranes after oral administration.Nystatin does not cross the placenta and is not expected to pass into breast milk.The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after weighing the benefits and risks.
Notes
Nystatin oral preparations are not suitable for treating fungal infections of the entire body.If healing is not successful, the treatment must be checked by a doctor.When treating fungal infections, all fungal lesions on the skin and mucous membranes must be treated in order to avoid relapses caused by untreated fungal lesions.
