Area of application

Moronal Suspension is a medicine that contains the active ingredient nystatin.It is used for the local treatment of fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes.It is particularly suitable for treating oral thrush and for rehabilitating the intestines in cases of yeast infestation.Its use is particularly beneficial for newborns, small children and patients with swallowing difficulties.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Moronal Suspension is nystatin.One milliliter of the suspension contains 100,000 IU of nystatin.In addition, the suspension contains the following ingredients: sucrose, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (parabens E 216, E 218), sodium monohydrogen phosphate, glycerol, carmellose sodium, ethanol 96%, cinnamaldehyde, peppermint oil, cherry flavor and purified water.

Contraindications

Moronal Suspension must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin, other polyene antibiotics or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage and application

The recommended dose of Moronal Suspension for children from two years of age and adults is 0.5 to 1.5 milliliters four times a day after meals, depending on the severity of the disease.Newborns and small children up to two years of age receive 0.5 to 1 milliliter four times daily.

The same dosage is recommended to prevent yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract in seriously ill patients.

In the case of oral thrush, the suspension should be dripped into the mouth using a pipette after meals and distributed in the mouth for at least a minute in order to achieve good wetting of the oral cavity.

To cleanse the intestines, the suspension is swallowed in the mouth after use.If there is no oral thrush, it can be swallowed directly or administered through a stomach tube.In these cases the suspension can also be given before meals.

The bottle should be shaken vigorously before use.The suspension is then drawn up with the pipette to the desired marking line (0.5 or 1 milliliter).

Patient information

No special precautions are required when using Moronal Suspension.There are no known restrictions on skin use for elderly patients.The ability to drive and use machines is not affected.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.At therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed after oral administration, via intact skin or mucous membranes.Nystatin does not cross the placenta and is not expected to pass into breast milk.Nystatin can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
