Area of application

This preparation is a polyene antibiotic that is effective against yeast fungi.It is used for the topical therapy of proven nystatin-sensitive yeast mycoses in the intestinal area, especially after or during therapy with cytostatics, corticosteroids or antibiotics.It is also used to eliminate or reduce the yeast reservoir in the gastrointestinal tract as a supplement to local therapy for existing oral or vaginal yeast infections.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each film-coated tablet contains 500,000 international units (IU) of nystatin as the active ingredient.The other ingredients include carboxymethyl starch, sodium salt, cellulose powder, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x-water, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, povidone K25, propylene glycol, colloidal silicon dioxide, stearic acid, talc and titanium dioxide.For diabetics, taking one film-coated tablet should be counted as 0.05 bread units (BE).

Contraindications

The medicine should not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active ingredient nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always take the product exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

To treat yeast mycoses, please take 2 film-coated tablets (1,000,000 IU nystatin) 3 times a day.If necessary, the daily dose can be increased up to 12 film-coated tablets.During therapy with yeast growth-promoting medications, please take 1 film-coated tablet (500,000 IU nystatin) 3 times a day.To reduce or eliminate the presence of yeast in the gastrointestinal tract as a supplement to local therapy for existing oral or vaginal yeast infections, 1 - 2 film-coated tablets (500,000 - 1,000,000 IU nystatin) should be taken 3 times daily.

When treating yeast infections, all sources of infection must be completely eliminated to avoid relapses.In order to achieve lasting treatment success, you should take the preparation regularly for at least 2 weeks.To reduce or eliminate the presence of yeast in the gastrointestinal tract in the case of existing mucosal yeast infections (oral or vaginal candidiasis), 1 - 2 film-coated tablets should be taken 3 times daily.Treatment should be continued until the risk of disease has ceased.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are intended to be taken orally.They should be taken after meals with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking it if the following applies: Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.No special precautions are required when driving or using machines.

Pregnancy

Nystatin, the active ingredient of the preparation, is hardly absorbed in therapeutic doses after oral administration, through the intact skin or through the mucous membranes.Nystatin does not cross the placenta and is not expected to pass into breast milk.The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Notes

If the affected areas cause unpleasant irritation or something changes there, stop taking the medication and consult your doctor immediately.When treating fungal infections, all fungal foci on the skin and mucous membranes must be eliminated in order to avoid relapses caused by untreated fungal foci.
