Information for use with the article Mutaflor mite enteric-coated hard capsules: Mutaflor mite is a medicine for the treatment of intestinal disorders. It contains the active substance Escherichia coli strain Nissle 1917, which has an anti-inflammatory effect, promotes the body's own defences and supports digestion. It is used for ulcerative colitis in remission and chronic constipation. The dosage for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over is 1 capsule daily for the first 4 days, 2 capsules daily for the following 2 days and 3 capsules daily thereafter. Children receive 1 capsule from day 1-4 and 2 capsules from day 5 onwards. The capsules should be taken unchewed with liquid at a meal, preferably at breakfast. The duration of use in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over is as long as 3 capsules of Mutaflor mite are well tolerated. In children, Mutaflor mite can be used for up to 6 weeks. Mutaflor mite should be stored in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C and kept out of the reach of children.
