Rotasept solution is a ready-to-use disinfectant solution for cleaning and disinfecting rotary instruments such as drills, cutters and diamond grinders. The solution consists of alcohols and potassium hydroxide and provides comprehensive efficacy against viruses, including polio viruses. It is also suitable for use in ultrasonic equipment, which shortens the exposure time. The solution is compatible with materials and provides corrosion protection. For application, Rotasept is used undiluted by immediately placing the instruments in the solution to prevent dirt from drying. After removal, the instruments should not be rinsed with water to prevent rust formation. Instead, they should be placed on a cellulose cloth and allowed to dry. The exposure time is only 15 minutes, longer exposure times should be avoided. The solution should be renewed daily. Alkali and alcohol-sensitive plastics as well as aluminium parts and instruments processed with synthetic resin glue should be avoided in Rotasept. Gloves should be worn when handling the disinfectant and it should not be stored above room temperature. The composition of Rotasept includes potassium hydroxide, 2-propanol and 2-ethylhexanol.
