Octenisept is an antiseptic for wound and mucous membrane disinfection. It is used before diagnostic and surgical procedures in the ano-genital area, in the oral cavity and for supportive wound treatment. Octenisept has a broad spectrum of activity, is well tolerated and can be used painlessly. It contains octenidine and phenoxyethanol as active ingredients. The solution is applied to the area to be disinfected and should act for at least one minute. Octenisept is colourless and also suitable for babies and pregnant women. It should not be used together with PVP-iodine. Before use, the package leaflet should be read or a doctor or pharmacist consulted. The solution is sold over-the-counter and is usually readily available. The manufacturer of Octenisept is Schülke & Mayr GmbH.
