Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Hepa-Gel 30,000 IU Lichtenstein is heparin sodium, which is obtained from pig mucosa.Each 100 g of gel contains 30,000 IU of heparin sodium.The other ingredients are sodium edetate, 2-propanol, carbomer 980, poly(oxyethylene)-7-glycerol (mono, di)alkanoate (C8-C18), polysorbate 80, glycerol 85%, sodium hydroxide, rosemary oil, citronella oil, pine needle oil and purified water.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to heparin sodium, limonene or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The product must also not be used if there is an acute or known allergic drop in the number of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia type II) caused by heparin.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, you should apply the gel thinly and evenly to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day.The duration of use should not be longer than 10 days unless your doctor tells you otherwise.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect is too strong or too weak.

Application

Apply the gel thinly and evenly to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day.After use, you should wash your hands thoroughly with soap.The gel is intended for application to the skin and should not be applied to open wounds, weeping eczema or inflamed areas of skin.Due to the alcohol content, it should not come into contact with mucous membranes or eyes, as this can cause a burning sensation.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.If new symptoms appear that could indicate a thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, such as swelling and a feeling of warmth in the affected part of the body, red and tense skin, a feeling of tension and pain in the foot, calf and back of the knee or sudden shortness of breath, chest pain and weakness, the presence of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II should be ruled out and the blood platelet count should be checked.If drugs that interfere with blood clotting are used at the same time, an increased risk of bleeding cannot be ruled out.During treatment, injections into the muscle should be avoided to minimize the risk of bruising.

The medicine has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Previous experience with use in pregnant and breastfeeding women has shown no evidence of harmful effects.Heparin does not cross the placenta and does not pass into breast milk.
