Instructions for use for the Sachsen Fango compress

The Sachsen Fango compress is a product for the use of heat and cold therapy.Please read the following instructions carefully to get the most out of the compress.If you have any further questions, contact your doctor or pharmacist.No prescription is required for this product.

Composition

The compress consists of 100% mineral peloid (fango) as an active ingredient.The covering is made of real cotton fabric and coated non-woven fabric.The compresses are handmade.

Dosage form and contents

The compress is available in two sizes: one with 3 ribs (approx. 27 x 28 cm) and one with 6 ribs (approx. 50 x 27 cm).The exact dimensions may vary due to the handmade nature.The compress in 3 ribs contains 850 g, the one in 6 ribs 1700 g.

Areas of application

Cold applications (0 - 15 °C) are suitable for acute rheumatoid arthritis, gout attacks, phlebitis, acute gallbladder inflammation, acute conditions following injuries to the musculoskeletal system, as well as to support therapy for purulent phlebitis, inflammatory diseases of the lymphatic system and fever reduction.

Hot applications (42 - 48 °C) are suitable for joint diseases after the acute inflammatory symptoms have subsided, sciatica, strains, bruises and sprains, stiffness and sprains, follow-up treatment of bone fractures, chronic rheumatic diseases of the joints, painful tension of the back and shoulder girdle, chronic diseases of the liver, gallbladder and urinary tract, chronic gastrointestinal diseases, chronic diseases of thefemale pelvic organs and functional circulatory disorders.

Contraindications

The compresses should only be used under certain conditions and with particular caution in acute inflammatory conditions, acute conditions after injuries, bleeding, edema, circulatory disorders in the skin caused by pathological vascular changes, fever, skin areas with sensory disorders, large-scale skin injuries and acute skin diseases, as well as heat-related hives formation on the skin (thermal urticaria).

When applying cold, circulatory disorders in the skin, cold-related hives on the skin (cold urticaria), the appearance of cold-labile protein bodies in the blood (cryoglobulinemia) and large-scale skin injuries should be taken into account.

Precautions for use

Especially with hot applications, you should carefully check the temperature before application to avoid burns to the skin.

Interactions with other agents

When hot applications are used together with local substances that promote blood circulation, you must expect a stronger irritant effect.

Type and duration of application

Cold applications: Before use, temper the completely moistened compress in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.

Hot applications: Heat the compress in a container with water at the prescribed or desired temperature for at least 15 minutes.Alternatively, the compress can be brought to the desired temperature in the microwave or oven.Excess water can be removed by briefly wrapping the compress in an absorbent cloth.Place the absorbent side on the body part to be treated, cover the compress with a cloth and then cover the pack with a wool blanket.Do not place the compress on open wounds.Relax during the 20 to 30 minute rest period.A rest period of approx. 30 minutes after removing the compress is beneficial.

Application instructions

A single application of the compress usually has little or no effect.Treatment series of at least 6 or more individual applications are therefore recommended.When using it, pay attention to the natural rhythm of your body's heat balance.The morning hours are particularly suitable for cold applications.You should postpone heat applications until the late afternoon.Cold and hot applications can be used several times a day.It is recommended to take a break of one to two days between treatment series.The treatment can be carried out comfortably at home.Successful treatment can be supported by mentally preparing for the treatment.Watch your body's reaction closely.For hygiene reasons, it is not permitted to reuse the compress on different people.

Application error

Avoid “cooking” the compress.This compromises the stability of the seams, which can lead to leaks and filler escape. When heating in the microwave, make sure that the turntable is working, as overheating will destroy the compress.

Notes and information on shelf life

The compress can be used for 3 years.The expiry date is printed on the packaging.During a treatment series, it is sufficient to store the moist compress in a cool place; after completing the series, please ensure that it is dried thoroughly.In the interest of good skin compatibility, Sachsenfango compresses are manufactured without the addition of preservatives.Mildew stains cannot be ruled out if the drying is insufficient, but they do not affect the effectiveness.The compress will remain effective for longer if it is dried well after the series of applications.The used compress can be disposed of with household waste.
