Instructions for use for the Sachsen Fango compress

The Sachsenfango compress is a product that can be used for both cold therapy and heat therapy.It consists of 100% mineral peloid, also known as fango.The wrapping of the compress is made of real cotton fabric and coated non-woven fabric and is made by hand.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The compress can be used for both cold applications and hot applications.Cold applications (0 - 15 °C) are suitable for acute rheumatoid arthritis, gout attacks, phlebitis, acute gallbladder inflammation, acute conditions following injuries to the musculoskeletal system, as well as to support therapy for purulent phlebitis and inflammatory diseases of the lymphatic system.They can also be used to reduce fever.

Hot applications (42 - 48°C) are suitable for joint diseases after the acute inflammatory symptoms have subsided, sciatica, strains, bruises and sprains, stiffness and sprains, follow-up treatment of bone fractures, chronic rheumatic diseases of the joints, painful tension of the back and shoulder girdle, chronic diseases of the liver, gallbladder and urinary tract, chronic gastrointestinal diseases, chronic diseases of thefemale pelvic organs and functional circulatory disorders.

Contraindications and precautions

Sachsenfango compresses should only be used under certain conditions and with particular caution.Hot applications should be avoided in acute inflammatory conditions, acute conditions after injuries, bleeding, edema, circulatory disorders in the skin caused by pathological vascular changes, fever, skin areas with sensitivity disorders, large-scale skin injuries and acute skin diseases as well as in the case of heat-related hives formation on the skin.Cold applications should be avoided in the event of circulatory disorders in the skin caused by pathological narrowing of the blood vessels, cold-related wheals on the skin, the appearance of cold-stable protein bodies in the blood and large-scale skin injuries.

Particularly with hot applications, careful temperature control should be carried out before application to avoid burns to the skin.When hot applications are used together with local substances that promote blood circulation, a stronger irritant effect must be expected.

Type and duration of application

For cold applications, the completely moistened compress should be kept in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.Hot applications can traditionally be carried out by heating in a vessel with water, in the microwave or in the oven.Excess water can be removed by briefly wrapping the compress in an absorbent cloth.The absorbent side of the compress should be placed on the body part to be treated and covered with a cloth.The compress should then be covered with a wool blanket.The application time is 20 to 30 minutes, followed by a rest period of approx. 30 minutes.

A single application usually has little or no effect.Treatment series of at least 6 or more individual applications are therefore recommended.Cold and hot applications can be used several times a day.It is recommended to take a break of one to two days between treatment series.

Information on shelf life and disposal

The compress can be used for 3 years, the expiry date is printed on the packaging.During a treatment series, it is sufficient to store the moist compress in a cool place; after the series has been completed, care should be taken to dry it thoroughly.The compress is made without the addition of preservatives.Mildew stains cannot be ruled out if the drying is insufficient, but they do not affect the effectiveness.The used compress can be disposed of with household waste.
