Contragel Green is a contraceptive gel for use with diaphragms and cervical caps. It forms a mechanical barrier between the diaphragm or cervical cap and the cervix, slows or stops the movement of sperm and reduces the pH value. The gel consists of water, lactic acid, sodium lactate, cellulose and sorbic acid. It can be used long and often and is well tolerated by the vaginal flora. In case of intolerance, use should be discontinued and a doctor or pharmacist consulted. Contragel Green does not provide protection against sexually transmitted diseases and should only be used in conjunction with a diaphragm or cervical cap. It is water-soluble and compatible with condoms made of natural rubber or polyurethane. The gel should be stored at 4°C to 25°C and used within 3 months after opening.
