Durafiber Ag is an absorbent, gel-forming wound dressing with silver.This wound dressing is very absorbent and contains gel-forming components.The special mixture of cellulose fibers makes it suitable for the treatment of chronic, acute and infected wounds with medium to high amounts of exudate.The dressing period can be up to seven days, which supports economical care.

Properties and benefits

Durafiber Ag consists of non-woven fibers with gel-forming components and silver.It provides long-lasting antimicrobial activity, effective in vitro against a broad spectrum of pathogenic bacteria for up to seven days.These include S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, MRSA and VRE.The wound dressing minimizes the dead space in which bacteria can settle.

The wound dressing has a high absorption capacity and retention, which traps the wound exudate and the harmful bacteria it contains.The wound dressing remains permanently intact and gel-like, making it easy to remove in one move.It can remain on the wound for up to seven days.

Reduced risk of maceration

Durafiber Ag shrinks minimally, ensuring continuous coverage of the wound bed.It minimizes the horizontal spread of exudate through vertical absorption, reducing the risk of maceration of the surrounding skin.The wound dressing adapts to the wound bed and supports wound healing by creating a moist wound environment.

Areas of application

Durafiber Ag is an absorbent, antimicrobial, gelling dressing suitable for the treatment of chronic and acute wounds.These include full/partial skin wounds or shallow, granulating exuding wounds.Examples include leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, traumatic wounds, skin donor sites, first and second degree burns, fistula tracts, and tunneled wounds.The wound dressing is also suitable for secondary healing wounds, wounds that tend to bleed, such as wounds that have been surgically or mechanically debrided, and infected wounds.
