Information about glucose 5% B. Braun injection solution
Glucose 5% B. Braun injection solution contains the active ingredient glucose monohydrate.This solution is used to dissolve and dilute medicines to be administered by injection.No prescription is required for this product.
Important notes
Glucose 5% B. Braun injection solution must not be used if you have high blood sugar levels, low blood potassium levels or if your blood is too acidic.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the solution.During use, your blood electrolyte levels, especially potassium, as well as your fluid balance and acid-base status are monitored.Particular caution is required in children, especially newborns and premature babies, as the risk of blood sugar levels being too low or too high is increased.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines you are taking.So far no interactions are known.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor as there is limited experience with use in pregnant and breastfeeding women.The solution has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.
Application
Always use the solution exactly as your doctor has told you.The dosage is determined by your doctor and depends on the medicine for which Glucose 5% B. Braun is used as a carrier solution.The solution can be administered as an injection or infusion.An overdose can lead to high blood sugar levels, a reduction in electrolyte concentrations in the blood and overhydration.In this case, the supply will be slowed down or stopped and your doctor will decide on further treatment measures.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Glucose 5% B. Braun can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include a decrease in electrolyte concentration in the blood and overhydration.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Keep the solution out of the reach of children and do not use it after the expiration date stated on the label.No special storage conditions are required.Mixtures containing additives or other solutions should be used immediately and should normally not be stored for more than 24 hours at 2°C to 8°C if not prepared under controlled conditions.Do not use the solution if you notice any discoloration, cloudiness, visible particles, or damage to the container.
Contents of the pack
Glucose 5% B. Braun injection solution contains 5.5 g glucose monohydrate per 100 ml (corresponding to 5.0 g anhydrous glucose) and water for injection purposes as an additional ingredient.The solution is a clear, colorless or slightly yellowish aqueous solution and is supplied in glass vials of 50 or 100 ml and in polyethylene ampoules of 10 ml.
