Application and dosage

Glucose 50% B. Braun is administered as an infusion after dilution.The exact dosage will be determined by your doctor based on your blood sugar levels.The solution is administered through a thin tube into a vein (intravenously).It is important that you use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is glucose monohydrate.100 ml of the solution contains 55.0 g of glucose monohydrate, which corresponds to 50.0 g of anhydrous glucose.The other ingredient is water for injections.

Glucose 50% B. Braun is used if you need glucose to raise blood sugar levels that are too low.

Warnings and precautions

Glucose 50% B. Braun must not be used if your blood sugar level is too high, your blood potassium level is too low or your blood is hyperacidic.Particular caution is required if the concentration of salts and other substances in your blood is increased.During use, your blood electrolyte values, your fluid balance and your acid-base status will be determined regularly.

Side effects

Like all medicines, glucose 50% B. Braun can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include increase in electrolyte concentration in the blood, loss of fluid, local pain or reaction at the injection site, irritation or inflammation of the vein, blood clot formation at the injection site and leakage of solution into the surrounding tissue.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the label and carton.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.Mixtures containing additives or other solutions should be used immediately or, if not used immediately, stored at 2°C - 8°C for no longer than 24 hours.
