Ichtholan 10% ointment is used to treat superficial inflammatory skin conditions. The active ingredient in the ointment is ammonium bituminosulfonate (ichthyol), which has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The ointment is applied thinly to the affected skin and can be easily spread over larger areas of skin. It offers quick help for purulent skin inflammations such as shaving pimples in the intimate area and on the face. Ictholan comes in three potencies: 10%, 20% and 50%. It is important to act immediately to prevent the inflammation from spreading. The ointment must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
