Instructions for use of the article Lygal Head Ointment N: Lygal Head Ointment N contains the active substance salicylic acid and is used to descale horny cells on the scalp, especially in psoriasis and dandruff. It is important to read the package leaflet carefully and to use the medicine according to the instructions. The maximum daily dose for adults is 2 g of salicylic acid (equivalent to about 67 g of ointment) and for children 0.2 g of salicylic acid (equivalent to about 7 g of ointment). The ointment is applied to the scalp and left to act for 2-6 hours for children or 8-12 hours for adults, depending on age, before washing out with a mild shampoo. Lygal Head Ointment N must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients, in infants and in cases of extensive inflammation or eczema at the site of application. Local skin irritation may occur. If symptoms occur, the treatment should be discontinued and a doctor contacted. The medicinal product should not be used during pregnancy and should not be applied to the breast during breastfeeding. The ointment also contains other excipients such as lard, emulsifying cetylstearyl alcohol (type A), macrogol 300, macrogol 1500, macrogol glycerol ricinoleate and white vaseline. Care should be taken to keep the medicinal product out of the reach of children and to use it within 3 months after opening. In case of skin irritation or intolerance, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.
