AMBROXOL AL 15 mg/5 ml juice is an expectorant medicine for the treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with thick mucus. The juice contains the active substance ambroxol hydrochloride and may only be taken by children under 2 years of age on medical advice. The active ingredients are sorbitol, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate. The dosage of the juice varies according to age and ranges from 2.5 ml twice daily for children under 2 years of age to 20 ml twice daily for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. The solution is taken after meals and the duration of use should not exceed 4-5 days without medical advice. An overdose may cause restlessness, vomiting, diarrhoea and a drop in blood pressure. Ambroxol AL Juice should be stored at room temperature away from light. The package leaflet contains all important information on use and dosage. Side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints, skin reactions and fever. An allergic reaction to ambroxol should be avoided and attention should be paid to a possible intolerance to fructose. In case of pregnancy, lactation, impaired kidney or liver function or histamine intolerance, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before use.
