Prospan Cough Syrup is a herbal medicinal product used for chronic inflammatory bronchial diseases and acute respiratory inflammation with cough. The active ingredient in Prospan Cough Syrup is a dry extract of ivy leaves. The cough syrup helps to improve the symptoms by loosening the mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up, relieving inflammation and calming the irritation of the cough. Prospan Cough Syrup contains no alcohol and can be taken by the whole family. The dosage depends on the age: children under 6 years of age take 2.5 ml in the morning and 2.5 ml in the evening, children from 6 to 12 years of age take 5 ml in the morning and 5 ml in the evening, adults and children from 12 years of age take 5 ml in the morning, 5 ml at noon and 5 ml in the evening. The cough syrup can be taken independently of meals. The duration of use is at least one week. If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted. Prospan Cough Syrup has a shelf life of 3 months after opening and should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The medicine should also not be taken if you have known allergies to ivy or other ingredients. Side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints and allergic reactions.
