Otriven against rhinitis 0.025 % nasal drops is a medicine used to treat inflammatory conditions of the mucous membranes in the nasopharynx. It contains the active ingredient xylometazoline, which has a vasoconstrictor effect and thus causes the mucous membranes to swell down. The medicine is mainly used to relieve the common cold and to facilitate the drainage of secretions in sinusitis. However, it should not be used for more than 7 consecutive days, as prolonged use can lead to chronic swelling of the nasal mucosa. Otriven Against Rhinitis 0.025 % Nasal Drops is intended for infants and young children under 2 years of age. Certain precautions should be observed before use, such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease or hyperthyroidism. Side effects may include headache, nasal dryness or nosebleeds. In children, severe side effects such as convulsions may occur. It is important to follow the dosage recommendations and to inform a doctor immediately in case of overdose.
