Instructions for use of the article Aponorm clinical thermometer Ear Comfort 4 The Aponorm clinical thermometer Ear Comfort 4 measures the infrared energy emitted by the middle ear and surrounding tissue. It uses lenses to capture the energy and convert it into temperature readings. The readings obtained directly from the middle ear (eardrum) provide the most accurate ear temperature. Measurements taken from the surrounding tissues of the ear canal may give lower readings and lead to incorrect fever diagnoses. Application: - Remove the protective cap before each measurement. - After switching on, the default mode is body mode. - Press the START/IO-button to activate the thermometer. The display shows all segments for 1 second. - The thermometer is ready when the "°C" symbol flashes and a beep sounds. - Stretch the ear canal by pulling the ear upwards and/or backwards to get a clear view of the eardrum. - While gently pulling the ear, insert the measurement sensor into the ear canal. - The LED-light on the measuring sensor indicates when the correct position is reached. - As soon as the signal sounds, release the START/IO-button and wait for the measurement to end. - Remove the thermometer from the ear canal and read the measured temperature on the display. - For further measurements, wait until the "°C" symbol flashes and repeat steps 5-7. - To switch off the device, press and hold the START/IO-button for 3 seconds. After the measurement, it is important to clean the ear canal and the measurement sensor to avoid lower temperature readings due to earwax or dirt. The cleaning of the measuring sensor is reminded by the device when it is switched off.
