Instructions for use for MUCOSOLVAN Children's juice 30 mg/5 ml, 250 ml

Mucosolvan children's juice 30 mg/5 ml is used for the expectorant treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with thick mucus. It helps in respiratory diseases in which stuck mucus accumulates in the bronchi and lungs, such as an obstructed cough.

Dosage and directions for use

The dosage of Mucosolvan children's juice 30 mg/5 ml is based on the age of the child or patient:

• Children up to 2 years of age: 1.25 ml solution 2 times daily
• Children from 2 to 5 years: 1.25 ml solution 3 times a day
• Children from 6 to 12 years: 2.5 ml solution 2-3 times a day
• Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: 3 times daily 5 ml solution for the first 2-3 days, then 2 times daily 5 ml solution. If necessary, the efficacy can be increased by administering 10 ml of solution twice a day.

The solution is taken with or independently of meals. The recommended duration of use is 4-5 days. If there is no improvement after this time or the clinical picture worsens, a doctor should be consulted.

Contraindications

Mucosolvan children's juice 30 mg/5 ml must not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance ambroxol or any of the other ingredients. In the case of certain bronchial diseases and impaired kidney or liver function, the medicinal product should only be used under medical supervision. Use is not recommended in the first 3 months of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Side effects

Side effects may occur during treatment with Mucosolvan Children's Juice 30 mg/5 ml, including gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, dry mouth, taste disorders, hypersensitivity reactions of the skin and mucous membranes, shortness of breath and fever. A doctor should be contacted if adverse effects are noticed.

Composition

Each 5 ml solution of Mucosolvan Children's Juice 30 mg/5 ml contains 30 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride and other ingredients such as benzoic acid, sorbitol, hydroxyethylcellulose, glycerol, acesulfame potassium, flavourings and purified water.

Important notes

The medicinal product should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to ambroxol. Caution is advised in certain diseases and during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Before taking Mucosolvan Kindersaft 30 mg/5 ml, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if other medicinal products are used at the same time. The medicinal product should be kept out of the reach of children.
