Area of application
This medicine is a bronchosecretolytic used to loosen mucus in respiratory diseases with thick mucus.It is used to treat acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs in which thick mucus is present.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredient of this medicine is bromhexine hydrochloride.Each tablet contains 8 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride, equivalent to 7.29 mg of bromhexine.In addition, the medicine contains the following excipients: calcium carbonate, carnauba wax, quinoline yellow, gelatin, glucose syrup, lactose monohydrate, macrogol 6000, magnesium carbonate, magnesium stearate, corn starch, povidone K25, sucrose, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc and titanium dioxide.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to bromhexine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients.
Dosage
The usual dosage for adults and adolescents over 14 years of age is 1 to 2 tablets three times a day, which corresponds to a daily dose of 24 to 48 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride.Children and adolescents between 6 and 14 years of age and patients weighing less than 50 kg should take 1 tablet three times a day, which corresponds to a daily dose of 24 mg bromhexine hydrochloride.Medicines with a lower active ingredient content are available for children under 6 years of age.If you have impaired kidney function or severe liver disease, the dosage should be adjusted accordingly.The duration of use depends on the type and severity of the disease and should be decided by the treating doctor.If your condition worsens or does not improve after 4 to 5 days, you should consult a doctor.
Intake
The tablets should be taken after meals with sufficient liquid.Drinking enough fluids can make sense.
Patient information
Very rarely, severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome can occur.If skin and mucous membrane changes occur, you should seek medical advice immediately and stop using the drug.The medicine should only be taken after consulting your doctor for some rare bronchial diseases that are associated with excessive accumulation of secretions, as well as for impaired kidney function or severe liver diseases.In these cases, the medicine is used at longer intervals or in a reduced dose.If kidney function is severely impaired, the breakdown products of the drug formed in the liver may accumulate.During long-term treatment, liver function should be monitored occasionally.The medicine has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Before taking any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.There is currently no experience with the use of this drug during pregnancy in humans, so the drug may only be taken during pregnancy after a doctor has carefully weighed the benefits and risks.Bromhexine passes into breast milk.Since the effects on babies have not been sufficiently studied, the medicine must not be taken during breastfeeding.
