Instructions for use of the article Linseed: Linseeds, grains, are used internally and externally. Internally they are used for constipation, large intestine damaged by laxative abuse, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammation of intestinal diverticula. In the form of a mucilage preparation, they can also be used for inflammation of the stomach lining and intestines. Externally, linseeds are used in the form of a poultice for local inflammation. Contraindications include intestinal obstruction, constrictions in the digestive tract, inflammatory bowel disease, difficulty swallowing and open weeping or ulcerating wounds. The dosage and instructions for use vary depending on the age group and area of application. Side effects are not known when used as directed, but there is a risk of pharyngeal and oesophageal obstruction if linseed is not taken with sufficient liquid.
