Area of application

The eye gel is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eyes.It serves as a replacement for natural tears when the surface of the eye is not sufficiently moistened or the tear film is unstable.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The ingredients of the eye gel include 2.5 mg of Carbomer 974P per gram of gel.Other ingredients include lysine 1-water, sodium acetate 3-water, polyvinyl alcohol, sorbitol, water for injections and benzalkonium chloride.

Mode of action

The eye gel forms a film on the cornea and conjunctiva that can replace tears.This effect is caused by the active ingredient carbomer and the component polyvinyl alcohol.One drop is required per eye and per application.

Contraindications

The product must not be used if you are allergic to Carbomer 974P or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose is 1 drop instilled in the eye 1 to 4 times a day as needed.The preparation is suitable for long-term therapy and should be used as directed by a doctor for as long as the symptoms require.

If irritation, pain, redness or changes in vision occur during treatment, or if your condition worsens, you should stop treatment and talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you accidentally used too many drops, it is unlikely to cause unwanted side effects.Rinse your eye with clean water and carry out the next application at the scheduled time.

Do not use a double dose if you forget to use it.If it is already time for the next dose, use the next dose as usual and continue treatment as scheduled.

You should not stop treatment or reduce the amount you use until your doctor tells you to do so, otherwise your symptoms could get worse.

Application

The medicine is used on the eyes.Do not use the bottle if the protective seal on the cap is broken before first use.Wash your hands before opening the bottle.Tilt your head back slightly and look at the ceiling.

Gently pull the lower eyelid down until a small pocket forms.Invert the bottle and squeeze the bottle until a drop falls into the eye to be treated.Release your lower eyelid and blink a few times.

Repeat this process on the other eye if it also needs treatment.Do not touch the eye or other surfaces with the dropper tip to avoid contamination of the preparation.After each use, close the bottle tightly and put it back in the outer box.To make it easier to drip the product the next time you use it, you should store the bottle upside down.

Patient information

Special care is required when using contact lenses.Contact lenses must be removed before each use and may not be reinserted for at least 30 minutes.

Immediately after instillation, the preparation may cause brief blurred vision.If you are affected by this, you should only operate vehicles and machines once you can see clearly again.

Pregnancy

There is no experience with use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.The preparation should only be used if the doctor has carried out a careful risk-benefit analysis.

Notes

Benzalkonium chloride can cause discoloration of soft contact lenses.Hard contact lenses should be removed before instillation and only reinserted after 15 minutes.Immediately after instillation, blurred vision may occur and the ability to actively participate in traffic or operate machines may be impaired.
