Instructions for use for Pangrol 10000 hard capsules with gastro-resistant coated skin, 100 pieces

Application

This medicine belongs to the group of pancreatic enzyme preparations.Pancreatic enzymes are digestive enzymes of the pancreas. The most important digestive enzymes are lipase, amylase and proteases.Lipase breaks down fat from food, amylase breaks down starch and protease breaks down protein. The enzymes are in capsules with gastric acid-resistant microtablets.During the meal, the microtablets are released from the capsules and mix with the food pulp so that the enzymes are distributed throughout the food and reach the small intestine.

It is used to replace digestive enzymes in cases of poor digestion (maldigestion) due to impaired pancreatic function. The medicine is suitable for adults, teenagers and children.

Other

Care must be taken to swallow the preparation whole, as it contains active enzymes that, when released into the oral cavity, e.g.B. by chewing, which can lead to damage to the mucous membrane (ulcerations of the oral mucosa).

The absorption of folic acid (absorption of folic acid into the blood) can be reduced by taking finished medicines containing pancreas powder, so additional folic acid intake may be necessary.

The effect of the blood sugar-lowering active ingredients (oral antidiabetics) acarbose and miglitol can be reduced by taking the preparation at the same time.

In individual cases, allergic reactions of the immediate type (such as skin rash, sneezing, lacrimation, bronchospasm) as well as allergic reactions of the digestive tract have been described after taking pancreas powder. If this allergic reaction occurs, the preparation must be stopped immediately and a doctor must be consulted as soon as possible.

In patients with a characteristic malfunction of the pancreas (cystic fibrosis), the formation of narrowings (strictures) in the lower sections of the intestine (ileocecal region and ascending colon) has been described in individual cases after administration of high doses of pancreas powder.

For intestinal obstruction-like symptoms.Intestinal obstruction is a known complication in patients with cystic fibrosis. If symptoms similar to intestinal obstruction are present, the possibility of intestinal strictures should also be taken into account.

In patients with cystic fibrosis, increased uric acid excretion in the urine may occur, especially when taking high doses of pancreatin. Therefore, uric acid excretion in the urine should be controlled in these patients to avoid the formation of uric acid stones.

The preparation must not be taken in acute pancreatitis or an acute attack of chronic pancreatitis during the florid phase of the disease.
