Active ingredients and ingredients

Each film-coated tablet contains 120 mg dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves (35 - 67:1), with acetone 60% (m/m) serving as the extractant.The active ingredients include ginkgo flavonoid glycosides, terpene lactones, ginkgolides A+B+C, bilobalides and ginkgolic acids.The other ingredients include cellulose, microcrystalline, croscarmellose sodium salt, iron (III) oxide, hypromellose, lactose-1-water, macrogol 1500, magnesium stearate, corn starch, silicon dioxide, colloidal,Simeticon-alpha-hydro-omega-octadecyloxypoly(oxyethylene)-5-(E,E)-hexa-2,4-dienoic acid-water, talc and titanium dioxide.

Areas of application

Ginkobil® ratiopharm 120 mg film-coated tablets are used for the symptomatic treatment of organic brain-related performance disorders as part of an overall therapeutic concept in the event of a decline or loss of acquired mental abilities (dementia syndrome).This includes main complaints such as memory problems, difficulty concentrating, depressed mood, dizziness, ringing in the ears and headaches.They are also used to extend the pain-free walking distance in cases of peripheral arterial occlusive disease in stages II to FONTAINE (“intermittent intermittent claudication”) as part of physical-therapeutic measures, in particular walking training.They can also be used for dizziness and ringing in the ears as a result of circulatory problems or age-related regression processes.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to Ginkgo biloba or any of the other ingredients or if you are pregnant.No prescription is required for this product.

Dosage

Adults aged 18 and over should take 1 film-coated tablet twice a day for the symptomatic treatment of organic brain-related performance disorders.The duration of treatment should be at least 8 weeks, and after 3 months a medical check should be carried out to determine whether continued treatment is still justified.To extend pain-free walking distance in the case of peripheral arterial disease, adults aged 18 years and over should take 1 film-coated tablet once or twice daily, with a treatment period of at least 6 weeks being required.For dizziness and to support the treatment of ringing in the ears, adults aged 18 and over should take 1 film-coated tablet once or twice a day.Use for dizziness over a period longer than 6 to 8 weeks does not improve the treatment result.Supportive treatment for ringing in the ears should be carried out over a period of at least 12 weeks, and if no success has occurred after 6 months, this can no longer be expected even with longer treatment.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are intended to be taken orally.If used twice a day, they should be taken in the morning and evening, if used once a day in the morning.The tablets should not be taken while lying down and should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug.It should not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18 as there are no sufficient studies.In the case of a pathologically increased tendency to bleeding or simultaneous treatment with anticoagulant medicines, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.Since preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, the medicine should be discontinued before surgery as a precaution.If you are known to have a seizure disorder (epilepsy), you should consult a doctor before taking the medication.

Pregnancy

The medicine must not be taken during pregnancy as there is evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding.The medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies and it is not known whether the ingredients of the extract pass into breast milk.

Notes
