Areas of application

Ginkobil® ratiopharm 120 mg film-coated tablets are used for the symptomatic treatment of organic brain-related performance disorders as part of an overall therapeutic concept in the event of a decline or loss of acquired mental abilities (dementia syndrome) with the main complaints such as memory disorders, concentration disorders, depressive moods, dizziness, ringing in the ears and headaches.They are also used to extend the pain-free walking distance in cases of peripheral arterial occlusive disease in stage II to FONTAINE (“intermittent intermittent claudication”) as part of physical-therapeutic measures, in particular walking training.The film-coated tablets can also have a supportive effect on dizziness and ringing in the ears as a result of circulatory problems or age-related regression processes.

1 Film-coated tablet contains 120 mg dry extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves (35 - 67:1), extractant: acetone 60% (m/m).The extract contains ginkgo flavonoid glycosides, terpene lactones, ginkgolides A+B+C, bilobalides and ginkgolic acids.The excipients include cellulose, microcrystalline, croscarmellose, sodium salt, iron (III) oxide, hypromellose, lactose 1-water, macrogol 1500, magnesium stearate, corn starch, silicon dioxide, highly disperse, simeticon-alpha-hydro-omega-octadecyloxypoly (oxyethylene)-5-(E,E)Hexa-2,4-dienoic acid water, talc and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to Ginkgo biloba or any of the other ingredients or if you are pregnant.

Dosage

Recommended use of Ginkobil® ratiopharm 120 mg film-coated tablets:

For the symptomatic treatment of organic brain-related performance disorders, adults aged 18 and over should take 1 tablet twice a day.The duration of treatment should be at least 8 weeks.After a treatment period of 3 months, the doctor must check whether continued treatment is still justified.

To extend pain-free walking distance with peripheral arterial disease, adults aged 18 and over should take 1 tablet once or twice daily.The improvement in walking distance requires a treatment period of at least 6 weeks.

For dizziness and to support the treatment of ringing in the ears, adults aged 18 and over should take 1 tablet once or twice a day.Use for longer than 6 to 8 weeks does not improve the treatment result.Supportive treatment for ringing in the ears should be carried out over a period of at least 12 weeks.If there is no success after 6 months, this can no longer be expected even with longer treatment.

Intake

It is taken twice a day in the morning and evening, and once a day in the morning.Do not take tablets while lying down.Please take the tablets whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water).It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug.There are no sufficient studies on the use of this medicine in the age group under 18 years.It should therefore not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18.In the case of a pathologically increased tendency to bleeding or simultaneous treatment with anticoagulant medicines, this medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.Since there is some evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine should be discontinued before surgery as a precaution.Please inform your doctor in good time if you have taken the medicine so that he can decide how to proceed.If you have a known seizure disorder (epilepsy), please consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Pregnancy

Since there is some evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.This medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies.It is not known whether the ingredients of the extract pass into breast milk.
