Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets

Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets are an anti-allergic drug indicated for the relief of nasal and eye symptoms in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and for the relief of urticaria (hives) in adults and children aged 6 years and over.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets are used to treat allergy symptoms.Allergens like pollen can trigger an inflammatory response that releases histamine.This leads to symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing attacks, itchy, watery and red eyes, and skin reactions such as hives.

Mode of action

Cetirizine has anti-allergic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effects.The active ingredient blocks the H1 receptors and thus prevents histamine from developing its effect.

Active ingredient: 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.

Other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, Opadry Y-1-7000 white film coating: hypromellose, titanium dioxide, macrogol 400.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min) or if you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, one of the other ingredients, hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.

Dosage

The duration of use depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years: one film-coated tablet once daily.

Children between 6 and 12 years: 1/2 film-coated tablet twice daily.

Patients with renal impairment: 1/2 film-coated tablet once daily.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are taken with water.

Patient information

If an allergy test is planned, taking Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets should be interrupted a few days beforehand as the medicine could influence the test result.

The medicine is not suitable for children under 6 years of age as the required dose cannot be adjusted.

After taking it, the reaction to the medicine should be monitored, especially when driving, working without a secure footing or operating machines.No more than the recommended dose should be taken.

Pregnancy

Medical advice should be sought before taking the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Its use should be avoided by pregnant women.Cetirizine passes into breast milk, so the drug should not be taken during breast-feeding until medical advice is sought.

Notes

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and not stored above 25°C.Medicines should never be disposed of via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
