Cetirizine AL 10 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.This medication is indicated for the relief of nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and for the relief of chronic hives (chronic idiopathic urticaria) in adults and children 6 years of age and older.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Cetirizine AL 10 mg film-coated tablets are used to treat allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever and hives.The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride blocks the effects of histamine, a messenger substance that is released during allergic reactions and causes symptoms such as itching, sneezing and a runny nose.

Mode of action

Cetirizine dihydrochloride is an antihistamine and works by blocking histamine receptors.This reduces allergic reactions in the body.The active ingredient is quickly absorbed and can bring initial relief after just about an hour.

Ingredients

Cetirizine AL 10 mg film-coated tablets contain, in addition to the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride (10 mg), the following excipients:

Tablet core: Microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), highly dispersed silicon dioxide.

Film coating: hypromellose, macrogol 400, titanium oxide (E171).

Dosage and application

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over take one film-coated tablet daily.Children aged 6 to 12 years take half a tablet each morning and evening.The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid.In case of kidney dysfunction, the dose should be reduced to half a tablet daily.

Contraindications

Cetirizine AL 10 mg film-coated tablets must not be taken if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, have severe kidney dysfunction (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min) or have allergic reactions to hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.

Side effects

Possible side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints, headaches, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness and dry mouth.If side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Warnings

Cetirizine AL 10 mg film-coated tablets contain lactose.Patients with lactose intolerance should therefore not take the product.If you have liver and/or kidney dysfunction, the dose should be limited to half a tablet daily.Cetirizine dihydrochloride can increase the effects of alcohol, so alcohol should be avoided while taking it.

Storage

Cetirizine AL 10 mg film-coated tablets should be stored at room temperature and out of the reach of children.
