Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets

Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets are an anti-allergic drug that is used to relieve allergic symptoms.The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride helps with symptoms such as runny or stuffy nose, sneezing attacks, itchy, watery and red eyes and hives.These tablets are a proven solution for allergy sufferers who prefer tablets and offer a quick effect within around 45 minutes and a long-lasting effect of up to 24 hours.

Areas of application

Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets are used to relieve symptoms of the nose and eyes in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve hives (urticaria).Allergens like pollen can trigger an inflammatory response that releases histamine.This leads to symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing attacks, and itchy, watery, and red eyes.

Mode of action

Cetirizine has anti-allergic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effects.The active ingredient blocks the H1 receptor and thereby prevents histamine from developing its effect on the histamine receptors.

1 Film-coated tablet of Cetirizin Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets contains:

Active ingredient: 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.

Other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, highly disperse silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), film coating Opadry Y-1-7000 white: hypromellose, titanium dioxide, macrogol 400.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease (severe impairment of kidney function with a creatinine clearance below 10 ml/min) or if you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, to hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.

Dosage

Recommended use of Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets:

Adults and adolescents over 12 years: one film-coated tablet once daily.

Children between 6 and 12 years: 1/2 film-coated tablet twice daily.

Patients with kidney dysfunction: Patients with moderate kidney failure are recommended to take 1/2 film-coated tablet once daily.

Intake

Film-coated tablets to be taken with water.

Patient information

If you are to have an allergy test carried out, please ask your doctor whether you should stop taking Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets for a few days before the test, as this medicine could influence the result of an allergy test.

Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years of age as the tablets cannot adjust the required dose.

If you plan to drive, work without a secure footing or operate machines, you should carefully monitor your reaction to the medicine after taking Cetirizine Vividrin® 10 mg film-coated tablets.You should not take more than the recommended dose.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Taking the drug should be avoided by pregnant women.Accidental ingestion of the drug by pregnant women should not cause adverse health effects to the fetus.However, the medicine should only be taken if necessary and according to medical advice.Cetirizine passes into breast milk.Therefore, until you have consulted your doctor, you should not take the product while breastfeeding.
