Isotonic sodium chloride solution 0.9% AlleMan Pharma is an infusion solution that contains sodium chloride in water.Sodium chloride, also known as salt, is an important electrolyte present in the blood.This solution is used for fluid and electrolyte replacement in various conditions such as hypochloremic alkalosis, chloride losses, short-term intravascular volume replacement, hypotonic and isotonic dehydration.

Ingredients

The active ingredients are sodium chloride and water for injections.The solution contains 9.0 g of sodium chloride per 1000 ml of infusion solution.The other ingredients include electrolytes, with 1 ml of the solution containing 0.154 mmol sodium (Na+) and 0.154 mmol chloride (Cl-).The pH is between 4.5 and 7.0 and the theoretical osmolarity is 309 mOsm/L.The titration acidity up to pH 7.4 is less than 0.1 mmol/l.

Application and dosage

This infusion solution is administered by a doctor or healthcare professional.The dosage depends on the individual fluid and electrolyte requirements, which are usually 40 ml/kg body mass per day or 2 mmol sodium/kg body mass per day.The maximum daily dose is 3 - 6 mmol sodium/kg body mass for adults and 3 - 5 mmol sodium/kg body mass for children.The rate of infusion depends on the clinical situation.

Warnings and precautions

Isotonic sodium chloride solution 0.9% AlleMan Pharma must not be used in states of overhydration (hyperhydration states).Particular caution is required in cases of hypokalemia, hypernatremia, hyperchloremia, heart failure, generalized edema, pulmonary edema, hypertension, eclampsia, renal insufficiency and aldosteronism.In infants born prematurely or at term, repeated sodium chloride infusions should only be administered after serum sodium levels have been determined.In hypertonic dehydration, the solution must be infused slowly to avoid further increases in sodium levels.

Side effects

Possible adverse reactions include hypernatremia, hyperchloremia, fever, injection site infection, local pain or reaction, phlebitis, venous thrombosis, extravasation, and hypervolemia.If side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date stated on the label.No special storage conditions are required.Once opened, the medicinal product is intended for immediate consumption and any unused quantities must be discarded.Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste.
