Composition

GeloBacin ear drops consist of glycerol, 1,3-butanediol, water, dexpanthenol, potassium monohydrogen phosphate and citric acid.

Dosage form and contents

The ear drops are contained in a dropper bottle with 10 ml of solution.

Areas of application

GeloBacin ear drops are used for the physical treatment and relief of non-specific complaints of the external ear canal, such as those that can occur with otitis externa, also known as swimmer's otitis.Symptoms of otitis externa include itching, redness, pain, swelling of the ear canal, pain when pressing on the tragus, or pulling on the earlobe.These complaints are usually due to inflammation, which may be caused by moisture in the ear after bathing, swimming or diving, allergies or sensitivity to cosmetics, mechanical irritation or injury to the ear, skin diseases or comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus.The ear drops can also be used to prevent non-specific complaints in the ear canal.

Operating principle

When the external ear canal becomes inflamed, the affected areas of skin become irritated and swollen, which can lead to severe pain.Due to their osmotic properties, GeloBacin ear drops have a drying and decongestant effect, which relieves pain and supports the healing process.The ear drops also soothe and nourish irritated skin areas.

Contraindications and information

GeloBacin ear drops must not be used in cases of necrotic otitis externa, damaged or perforated eardrums, open wounds or known hypersensitivity to any of the components.If the pain is severe, you should definitely consult a doctor.The ear drops must not be applied to mucous membranes such as the eyes, mouth or nose and must not be used at the same time as other local therapeutic agents.

Use in children

Due to a lack of experience, GeloBacin ear drops should not be used in children under 2 years of age.

Side effects

In individual cases, allergic skin reactions and skin irritation may occur, which may manifest as inflammation, swelling, redness of the skin, itching and/or rash.

Dosage instructions, type and duration of application

Unless otherwise prescribed, 1-2 drops are instilled into the ear canal for children aged 2 and over and adults up to 4 times a day.Before use, the ear drops should be warmed to body temperature.After instillation into the ear canal, the head should be left on its side for about 5 minutes.To instill, pull the upper part of the auricle slightly backwards.After use, carefully close the bottle again.

If acute symptoms do not improve after 2 days of use at the latest, a doctor should be consulted.GeloBacin ear drops can also be used to prevent otitis externa.

Notes on durability

GeloBacin ear drops should not be used after the expiry date stated on the pack.Once opened, the ear drops have a shelf life of 3 months.The date of opening should be noted on the folding box.

Storage notice

GeloBacin ear drops should not be stored below 2°C and above 25°C.Medical devices should be stored carefully and secured from children.
