Mode of action

The GeloMuc breathing therapy device mobilizes stuck, tough bronchial mucus from the airways.The application creates excess pressure in the bronchi (PEP = positive expiratory pressure), which prevents the airways from collapsing.The oscillations of the intrabronchial pressure and the exhaled air cause the bronchi to vibrate, so that the mucus separates from the bronchial walls and can be transported more easily.With regular use, lung function is improved.

The GeloMuc respiratory therapy device consists of the following parts: main part with mouthpiece, funnel, steel ball and a screw-off head part with holes.The mouthpiece is made of polyoxymethylene colored with chlorinated copper phthalocyanine.

Contraindications

GeloMuc must not be used if pneumothorax is present at the time of administration.

Application

Sit relaxed at a table and rest your elbows on the tabletop.Take the mouthpiece between your teeth and enclose it with your lips.Breathe in calmly and evenly through your nose.Hold your breath for 1 to 2 seconds and then breathe out slowly and relaxed into the mouthpiece of the GeloMuc.The correct application is given when you feel a clear vibration in your chest.

If you feel the urge to cough, you should try to “blow off” the mucus.With this technique (“huffing”) you avoid strained coughing, which makes it more difficult for mucus to be removed from the narrowed bronchial tubes.When huffing, imagine breathing on a slice.

Frequency of application

It is recommended to use it several times a day for a longer period of time.In many scientific studies, patients have used GeloMuc 3 to 5 times a day for 5 to 10 minutes.This can be customized.

Tips for use by children

Train the correct use of the GeloMuc together with your child.Even a minute can be a long time for children.Agree in advance how long the therapy will last and, if necessary, take breaks.Ask your child if they feel the effect and please explain to them how it works.

Cleaning

If used daily, it is recommended to clean the GeloMuc daily for hygiene reasons.To do this, disassemble the respiratory therapy device and place the four individual parts in boiling water for 3 minutes.Please make sure that all parts are completely covered by water.If the GeloMuc is seriously contaminated, it should be pre-cleaned under running water with soap.

Cleaning in the dishwasher is also possible.To do this, place the individual parts in the cutlery tray.Allow the items to dry on a clean cloth overnight.For hygiene reasons, the GeloMuc should only be used by one person.
