Instructions for use for Nystatin acis oral gel, 25 g
Nystatin acis® oral gel
Nystatin acis® oral gel is a yeast-specific antifungal that is used to treat nystatin-sensitive yeast infections of the oral cavity, also known as oral thrush. This medication has a fungicidal or fungistatic effect against Candida albicans infections and related yeast species. The symptoms of oral thrush include a white coating on the very red mucous membrane of the mouth, abnormal sensations and occasional pain.
Favoring factors for the development of oral thrush include dental prostheses, chronic illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, HIV, and therapies with broad-spectrum antibiotics or immunosuppressive medications.Oral thrush can also occur as a local side effect when using inhaled glucocorticoids for respiratory diseases. Those affected should eat something small or rinse their mouth briefly after using the sprays to minimize the risk.
Treatment of oral thrush should not be delayed, otherwise the fungus can invade the lungs and intestines.Nystatin acis® oral gel can be used for self-medication and is characterized by its practical non-absorbability, good tolerability, good adhesive properties and a pleasant raspberry taste. It can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after weighing the benefits and risks.
