Echinacea ratiopharm® Liquid

Echinacea-ratiopharm® Liquid is a herbal medicine that is used for the short-term prevention and treatment of colds.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in this medicine is purple coneflower pressed juice, which is contained in a concentration of 800 mg per milliliter of solution.Ethanol 90% (V/V) is included as an additional ingredient.

Area of application

This herbal medicine is used for the short-term prevention and treatment of colds.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to purple coneflower, plants from the daisy family or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.It should not be taken by children under one year old as the immune system is not yet fully developed.For fundamental reasons, this preparation should not be used in progressive systemic diseases such as tuberculosis or sarcoidosis, systemic diseases of the white blood cell system such as leukemia, autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, immune deficiencies such as AIDS/HIV-infections, immunosuppression after organ or bone marrow transplantation or chemotherapy in cases of cancer, chronic viral diseases or allergic diathesis such as asthma or allergy-related skin rash.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults should take 2.5 ml of the oral solution three times a day.Its use is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.There are no sufficient data on dosage for impaired kidney or liver function.

Therapy should begin at the first signs of a cold and should not last longer than 10 days in total.If you accidentally take more than you should, please notify your doctor.Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten the previous dose, but continue treatment at the prescribed dose.

Intake

The oral solution can be taken undiluted or diluted with water.It is taken regardless of meals.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product.If a cold occurs despite the preventive use of the preparation, you should consult a doctor if shortness of breath, high fever, purulent or bloody sputum occurs or if the symptoms last longer than 5 days.Patients with an allergic predisposition may be at increased risk of anaphylactic shock.No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Since there are no sufficient studies available, you should not take the medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Notes

Contains ethanol.The amount in one dose (2.5 ml) of this medicine is equivalent to less than 13 ml of beer or 5 ml of wine.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

If inflammation of the respiratory tract occurs repeatedly or persists for a long time, as well as shortness of breath, fever or purulent, bloody sputum, a doctor should be consulted.
